Treasure Every Moment

Hi everyone. I'm sorry I haven't been writing the last few days. I woke up on Saturday morning to a horrible call from my mom. She had to tell me that my 22-year old, beautiful cousin, Kelsey, was killed in a head-on car crash on Friday night. She was killed instantly, along with two other people in the other car. Her boyfriend was life lighted to a nearby hospital, but he also passed away a few hours later from injuries sustained in the wreck. Two children are in serious condition. It was a horrible, mind-blowing event, and I have truly been at a loss for words.

I'm a Christian, and I take comfort in the fact that I know she is in a better place now: Heaven. She was a strong Christian and held true to her faith, which is just one of the things that I admired about her. She was the person I talked about in my last post. She had a heart of gold, and she lit up every room with her smile. She was beautiful, kind, very talented, athletic, fun, and intelligent. At her young age, she had already made a difference in this world in my book. She had so many friends that she was being asked to be in countless weddings (double digits!). Everyone loved her, and she could make anyone laugh or smile. Even when she was worried about things, she put others before herself and made sure they would smile. Someone the other day posted that if she could talk to us from above, she'd tell us to cheer up and eat a brownie or something. That was just how she was. She cared about others' happiness, and she did whatever she could to make them happy.

I'm so proud to have been your cousin, Kelsey. I know that we didn't always talk and stay in touch the best, but it meant a lot to me that we were becoming closer and closer. I'm honored that you were a part of my wedding day, and I wish that I had the chance one day to see you walk down the aisle, as well. But, I know you're up there with your true love. Thanks for being the one to reach out. Thanks for making sure everyone else is okay, even if you were having a rough day. It means the world that just a few days before you were taken from us, you messaged me to see how I was doing and to ask about my sister. I will always cherish that conversation, however short it may have been, and I enjoyed catching up on your life. It still doesn't seem real that I won't ever hear your laugh again. I worry about your dad, mom, brother, sister-in-law, and nephew. They're having such a hard time, and it's because you had so much life ahead of you still. We were all hoping to see you do great things in the future, but instead, we know you'll watch over us and protect us, and we're just going to have faith in God's plan.

We'll see you again one day, pretty girl. Fly high and watch over us down here. Love you forever.

  1. I'm sorry for your loss! I pray that the family has the strength to overcome the pain and that peace overflows. She was beautiful. What's great to know is that she is now resting and how wonderful it will be when you get to see her once again. Prayers...
