Highlights of 2014!

I can not believe another year has flown by. This year has been so amazing and full of so many changes that it's hard for me to even imagine how change-filled 2015 will be! I literally can't wait! But until then, here's what 2014 had in store for us!

January

Definitely the most exciting month of the year for me and my family. I married my best friend and the love of my life on January 18th. We're loving married life and have absolutely enjoyed this first year of marriage together. Looking forward to our first anniversary in a couple of weeks and to another fun-filled year together! Stay tuned for a Wedding Week Series in a couple weeks for more photos from our big day. :)

Wedding Photos Courtesy of Grindstone Studio.

Thanks to all my friends and especially my best friend and sister for throwing me an amazing bachelorette party two weeks before!!

And thank you to my mother and mother-in-law for a beautiful Bridal Lunch and Shower the day before!

Took a mini-honeymoon at a beautiful lodge in Branson, MO. Perfect for the wintertime and low-key before our big move! Plus, the people there made it so special for us!

February

February consisted of wrapping up work for the two of us. We both finished our jobs in early March, so this was the last full month of work. We also started packing up our place in preparation for our big move! And of course, our first married Valentine's day!

March

Going away dinner with our friends!

Traveled to the Pacific Northwest (Oregon Coast and Portland) for my sister-in-laws wedding!

My husband and I, along with our adorable dog and cat, packed up and made the cross-country trip from Missouri to Utah! Can't believe we've already been here 9 months!

And, I turned 26 and went snowshoeing with my husband and pup for the first time!

April

First Easter as a married couple!

May

We visited Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks with my husband's family, and I visited home to be there for my cousin's wedding and enjoyed a ton of family time!

June

Randy turned 26!

July

We got to meet our nephew for the first time (born in May) and visited Randy's home!

I started this blog, "New Home, New Name, New Adventure!"

August

Randy surprised me with tickets to "Wicked," and his mom came to visit! We hiked to Timpanogos Cave National Monument while she was here for the second time!

September

My best friend and I met in Vegas for a fun weekend together!

October

Tragically, my 22-year-old cousin passed away due to a car accident. Think of her every day! She's the one who inspires me to live life to the fullest, just like she did during her time here on Earth.

Pumpkin carving, seeing the fall colors, a haunted house, you know, the traditional October things!

We also took family pictures for our first married Christmas cards. :)

November

I traveled to Washington, D.C., for work, and then my husband, Honey, and I road-tripped to Southern Utah to visit five separate national parks! Such an awesome trip! :)

Celebrated our first Friendsgiving with amazing friends and had a great Thanksgiving day with more friends! We're so blessed to be surrounded by so many amazing people that we love! It makes being away from family so much easier.

December

Traveled home to surprise my mom (and family, but I couldn't keep the secret!) for my brother's college graduation; went skiing for the first time; and traveled to Washington with my husband for Christmas with his family!

Other Highlights

The blog grew tremendously in November of 2014 increasing to over 100 followers on Bloglovin', 180+ followers on Facebook, and more! I can't wait to watch it grow even more in the upcoming year with some big changes.

We also have been loving all of our hikes this past year and couldn't feel more blessed to live in the beautiful, mountainous area we do!

It's been an incredible year, and I'm so excited for the next. I feel so blessed always, but especially as I look back on all of these special times. Here's to a fabulous 2015, filled with more trips, more goals, and more memories!

This Was a Gift - Creative Closet

Most Christmas or birthday presents I receive don't consist of clothes. Not that I don't like clothing. I love it. But it took me a long time to wear anything but the "athletic" look of sweats, t-shirts, and hoodies unless I was getting all dressed up for something special, such as a wedding or party. I started dressing up for work when I started my new job last summer, and it's completely changed the way I look at fashion. It's been fun to pick a new outfit every day and see how many ways you can style a piece. My husband says he doesn't dare pick out clothes for me (men, geez, haha), and most other people give me practical things for Christmas, which is great. I absolutely love receiving items I can use and not have to buy for myself. Which is why, when my mom gave me this adorable coat two winters ago because I needed a heavy coat, I fell in love with it. Cute clothing (at that time that I could use when I dressed up!) and practical gift? Yes please!

Top 10 Posts of the Year!

Hello, everyone! Sorry I've been so absent lately. But, hopefully like you, I've been enjoying the holidays with my sweet family. We've gotten a lot of snow and ice, so it took a little longer for us to drive on Christmas Eve to my husband's family in WA, but we made it, and I'm sure glad we did. It was a great celebration and amazing time with family, including my little nephew who's the cutest 7-month-old in the entire world. Not that I'm biased or anything...

I actually do have posts planned for this week, so stay tuned! Also, by January 31st, you should be seeing an entirely new blog with a new NAME! I'm so excited for you all to see the design, layout, and all the new posts and things I have planned! I'll be starting a link-up, doing many more giveaways, more sponsored posts, and adding some new elements to my writing. Speaking of, any one have suggestions for particular subjects they would like to see me post about? I'd love to hear your input, and I promise I will do my best to make it possible! 2015 is going to the best year yet!

Today, though, enjoy a round-up of my top 10 posts of the year (or half-year, you know, since I started this blog in January). Hope you enjoy!

Merry Christmas from My Family to Yours!

I had the intention of writing a few more blog posts, getting a few more recipes out there before Christmas. But, you know what? It doesn't matter. Yes, I wish I had more content for you all to read. Yes, I feel behind during this holiday season. Yet, I'm keeping myself busy with the things that are most important: making memories with my family. This is my husband's and my first married Christmas, and it's also my first Christmas away from home. While the latter part makes me sad, I'm so blessed to be able to talk to them on Christmas and spend it with my husband's family, and this year, we're forming a new tradition of at least skyping with the family that we're away from. Next year, we may not even be able to see either family side due to my husband's job, and that's ok. We're together, and I can't thank God enough for that. I hope this Christmas season brings you joy and laughter and reminds you of all the love and blessings you have in your life! Just know, you are a blessing to me, too. :)

Our 2014 Christmas Card!
I'll be back with a couple more posts before the New Year (at least, I hope!), and then, there are new changes for the future of this blog starting after the New Year (most likely around the end of January). I can't wait to show you what's in the works! :)

With love and wishes for the most Merry Christmas,
